Popular singer and actor Aima Baig got engaged to beau Shahbaz Shigri on Saturday in what appeared to be a beautiful ceremony. However, social media users took exception to Baig wearing a Imam Zamin with Bibi Fatima's name on it on her sleeveless arm.

Baig was dressed in a maroon sari and green blouse, both of which had gold embroidery while her fiance dressed in a blue suit.

Once the pictures flooded news outlets and social media, however, Aima Baig began trending for reasons she probably did not expect. Social media users were upset she wore the Imam Zamin on a bare arm.

It's not uncommon for social media users to leave negative, often vile and abusive, comments about a woman's choice of clothing but this took a potentially harmful tone. Religious intolerance in Pakistan is growing at a dangerous pace.

At the time of writing Baig had not responded to these attacks about her choice of outfit.
