Social media users have responded to Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi's tweet on the recent surge in violence against women in Pakistan with a mixed bag.

Qureshi tweeted his "absolute condemnation of the recent violence and brutality against women" adding that it had no place in Pakistan's society, culture or religion.

Qureshi's is the second high profile government comment on the issue.

Human rights minister Shireen Mazari took to Twitter to express her horror on Noor's murder, saying her ministry was in touch with Noor's family and offering them support.

The response to Qureshi's tweet was mixed with some praising him for recognizing the issue and others reminding him that tweets alone won't fix the problem.

There is growing demand on social media for the prime minister to speak on the recent brutal murder of Noor Mukaddam in Islamabad. At the time of writing Imran Khan had not commented on the issue.

Aaj Web is sharing screenshots from some of the users to present a snippet of how Twitterverse has responded to Qureshi's comments.
