President of Pakistan Arif Alvi administered the oath to PML-Q leader Chaudhry Moonis Elahi as federal minister Monday.
Elahi has been appointed as the new minister for water resources, replacing Faisal Vawda who resigned his position to contest Senate elections.
Moonis is the son of Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervez Elahi. Analysts believe he was given the position following negotiations with the PTI government which had promised a federal ministry to its allies which also include MQM and GDA.
