Covid: Positivity rate shrinks to less than 8%
It seems that strict lockdown restrictions and increased compliance of coronavirus Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) by the public have started to show their results as a lesser number of cases are being reported daily for the past couple of days.
- In the past 24 hours, a 7.93% Covid positivity rate was reported in Pakistan. Since April 18th, it's the first instance when the rate remained less than 8%.
The National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), the nerve center to synergize and articulate a unified national effort against COVID-19, reported today that at least 113 people died due to coronavirus-related causes in the past 24 hours.
According to NCOC, a total of 38,883 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours in Pakistan. Out of these 3,084 returned positive meaning, the positivity rate remained 7.93%.
Total cases have reached over 864k, while total virus-related fatalities have crossed 19k. The number of active cases in the country is around 80k.
The country's vaccination drive is finally picking up pace as the government is expanding the number of vaccination centers in the country.
So far 1.7 million Pakistanis have been partially vaccinated i.e. they have received their first dose. While 938k individuals have been fully vaccinated against the novel coronavirus infection.
