According to the latest reports of the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), the coronavirus vaccination drive of Pakistan has finally started to pick up the pace.

In the last 24 hours, 164,168 people got vaccinated against the deadly novel coronavirus infection. This takes the tally of total vaccines administered till now to 2,766,108. This number tells us the total number of vaccines given so far and doesn't reflect the number of people fully immunized.

So far only 1% of the Pakistani population has been immunized. This makes it one of the least vaccinated countries in the world and even among the South Asian countries.

Recently, the government has started amping up the Covid vaccination campaign across the country but there is still a long way to go. The number of vaccination centers has been steadily increasing in the country.

The government adopted the phase-wise registration and vaccination of citizens for the coronavirus jabs. In the first phase, only health care providers were registered as they were at the frontlines in this war against the flu bug, then 60 plus people were registered, then 50 plus, and now people aged above 40 are also being registered and given vaccines.

It must be noted that in addition to the free vaccines provided to the public by the government of Pakistan, authorized private sector laboratories/companies are also administering the coronavirus vaccines.
