Govt will fight no-confidence motion in political, democratic manner: Qureshi
ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that government and its allies will fight the no-confidence motion in a political, democratic and parliamentary manner and will defeat them.

Referring to the regional situation and domestic politics, he said that we and our allies would fight and defeat the no-confidence motion in a political, democratic and parliamentary manner.
He said that differences in the ranks of PDM have come to the fore, PDM is an unnatural and temporary alliance. Resignations In PML-N, the difference of opinion between Maryam Nawaz and Shahbaz Sharif has come to the fore, he added.
The foreign minister said that Maulana Fazlur Rehman was on a long march but Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was talking about turning to the assemblies. He felt that the people did not pay attention to his protest politics.
He said that even within the party of Maulana Fazlur Rehman there was intense pressure and conflict.
He said that after every Senate election, various parties made allegations of horse trading and raised questions on the transparency of the elections.
Qureshi said that when this issue came up in the last senate elections, Prime Minister Imran Khan took disciplinary action against about 20 PTI members which no other party in history has done before.
"Yes, for this purpose we have proposed open voting in the Senate elections. We did," he said.
He assured that government is also ready to legislate in this regard. The question is whether the opposition is ready to support the government in this regard, he said.
Govt also decided to approach the Supreme Court, the foreign minister said. Now the Supreme Court will give its opinion regarding open voting, he added.
