  • In the last 24 hours, 1,903 Sindhis tested positive for novel coronavirus infection while 32 succumbed to the deadly disease.

Of late, the second wave of COVID-19 is sweeping over Pakistan as daily cases are soaring. Among all the provinces, Sindh is hit hardest by the coronavirus. So far, over 200,000 cases have been reported in the second-most populous province of the country.

Out of the 3,179 Pakistanis who contracted the flu bug yesterday, 1,903 belonged to Sindh province. That means an astonishing 60% of people who tested positive were Sindhis.

Karachi and Hyderabad are the most adversely affected cities of the province. The Covid positivity rate of these two cities has been one of the highest in the country for the past couple of months.

As of December 19th, the coronavirus statistics of Sindh as provided by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) are as follows:

Total Cases: 202,983   
Total Deaths: 3,302   
Total Recoveries: 178,866
