Consolidation at the PSX on Tuesday

The bourse in Pakistan witnessed consolidation on Tuesday. The KSE100 was just 15 points in the negative to settle at 43,251.

The bourse in Pakistan witnessed consolidation on Tuesday. The KSE100 was just 15 points in the negative to settle at 43,251.

Once again, the index remained positive throughout trading. The market tested its intraday highs near midday after before settling near its starting point before the closing bell. Volumes at the exchange continued to rise which point towards consolidation at these levels but a healthy positive momentum.

The global oil market continued to move cautiously as new restrictions were imposed in many parts of the world due to the Coronavirus. Global equity markets continued to trade with caution as rise in infections subsided the optimism from administration of the vaccine.

At the closing bell 183 companies had advanced with only closing in the red. 19 companies remained unchanged.

Market participation for the KSE100 Index increased to 405M from 338M in the previous session (+20% on d/d basis). Major contribution to total market volume came from PRL, HASCOL and ANL combined for 170M shares out of the total market volume of 702M shares.
