Covid-19: US reports over 200,000 new cases for the fourth consecutive day
The United States has seen a huge spike in recent days as over 200,000 new cases have been reported for the fourth straight day.
The coronavirus is wreaking havoc on the United States for almost a year now. The total cases have reached almost 15 million in the country. The difference between the US and the second worst-hit nation -India- is over 5 million.
In the last 24 hours, 208,790 new coronavirus cases were confirmed in the US while 2,251 people succumbed to the viral disease. So far, a total of 14,983,425 Americans have contracted the virus and a staggering 287,825 have lost their lives to the COVID-19.
Yesterday, California reported the most number of cases in the US. This has led the state authorities to impose new stay-at-home orders today. Pennsylvania recorded the second most number of cases, 11,374. Texas was the third most affected state reporting 11,263 new cases in the last 24 hours.
The US has found it really hard to contain the viral disease since the first case was reported way back in January. With the Trump administration failing miserably to curb the spread of the flu bug the country remains in limbo regarding the tackling of COVID-19 as it waits for the swearing-in of President-Elect Joe Biden. Now the nation has pinned all their hopes on the Biden-Kamala future administration to take the country out of this misery.
