3,009 Covid cases reported yesterday- the highest tally since July 8
As of today, the novel coronavirus cases in Pakistan have reached 382,892.
Yesterday, the country recorded the highest single-day Covid-19 tally since July 8 as 3,009 cases were reported. The number of coronavirus deaths in the last 24 hours was 59, taking the total fatalities to 7,803.
41,583 coronavirus tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. Out of these 3,009 returned positive. This means the positivity rate remained at 7.2%. The positivity rate has been on the rise for the past couple of weeks. The surge in rate is consistent with the increase in new cases during the second wave of coronavirus in Pakistan.
The federal and provincial governments have shown their concerns regarding the spike in coronavirus infections. Smart lockdown is being implemented in several major cities. Educational institutions have been shut down and restrictions on markets and restaurants have also been implemented to curtail the second wave of the flu bug.
