Pakistan: 1,313 new cases reported in the last 24 hours
Coronavirus cases have been surging gradually in Pakistan for the past couple of weeks. 1,313 cases reported in the past 24 hours, is the highest one-day coronavirus tally of the country since July 26th.
For the third day consecutively, over 1,000 people have been confirmed to be infected with the flu bug in the country.
The worrying thing is the rising positivity rate in Pakistan as the country is going through the second wave of COVID-19. The positivity rate is the number of people testing positive out of the total number of people sampled.
This week, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Imran Khan on health Dr. Faisal Sultan also showed his concerns regarding the rising positivity rate in Pakistan. Warning the public regarding the second wave, he said, "the numbers [increasing positivity rate] tell an unmistakable story. We are experiencing the beginning of our second wave which can put lives at risk and put many livelihoods at risk and put pressure on our health system."
SAPM also underlined the importance of following the precautionary measures in controlling the spread of the viral disease.
