National Party chief Mir Hasil Bizenjo passes away
KARACHI: National Party Chief Mir Hasil Bizenjo has passed away on Thursday.
He was a patient of lung cancer, undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Karachi. The leader, born on February 3 1958 in Khuzdar, Balochistan was the son of Mir Ghous Bakhsh Bizenjo, the first Governor of the Balochistan.
He got his primary education from Quetta in 1975, after which he moved to Karachi for higher studies. Bizenjo entered politics after the death of his father in 1989 and became part of the Pakistan National Party.
He took part in general elections for the first time in 1990 and was elected a member of the National Assembly on his party’s ticket. The leader also went behind bars several times during his political career. In 2003, he joined a new political party, the National Party. He boycotted the 2008 general elections but was elected as Senator in 2009.
With the help of PML-N, the National Party came to power in Balochistan in 2013 and thus its leadership gained national attention with Mir Hasil Bizenjo becoming its President in 2014. NNI
