In Pakistan, Coronavirus cases have been reducing consistently for the past few weeks. Less than 1,000 new cases have been reported for the seventh day in a row in the country.

In the last 24 hours, 727 new cases were reported in Pakistan taking the tally of total COVID cases to 281,263. This means that not even once in the past week the new cases tally has touched the 1,000 mark. This welcoming decline in daily cases has resulted in lifting of lockdown restrictions in the country.

The declining number of cases is especially significant as a new wave of viral cases in the country was expected in the Eid holidays. But experts warn that the scare of the virus is still present and the public must follow the SOPs put in place by the government strictly so we can get rid off the flu bug as soon as possible.

The coming days will tell us whether the viral cases have increased during holidays or not, as the novel coronavirus infection usually takes 5-7 days to express itself symptomatically. So the next few days are quite crucial in our country's fight against the COVID.

It should be noted that the lesser number of cases in the past few days is partly due to decreased testing during the holidays. But statistics tell us that our positivity rate has dropped significantly in Pakistan in the last few weeks meaning the coronavirus containment is real.
