Coronavirus: Less than 1,000 daily cases reported in Pakistan after almost 3 months
In the last 24 hours, less than a thousand new cases were reported in Pakistan. It's the first such instance in the country since May 3rd.
This stat substantiates the government's claims that coronavirus cases are declining swiftly in the country. For the past couple of weeks we've seen a significant dip in daily newly reported cases. The new cases tally has been consistently below the 2,000 for almost two weeks now.
In the past 24 hours, 936 people tested positive for the virus out of 19,610 people who were sampled. While 23 people succumbed to the viral disease yesterday. Currently, the corona cases count in the country stands at 275,225 and the deaths tally so far is 5,865.
Special Assistant to PM Khan on health, Dr. Zafar Mirza tweeted this regarding the welcoming decline in daily cases:
"Rise & fall in daily COVID-19 cases in Pakistan: on 14 June we had a peak of 6825 cases & in the last 24 hrs we had 936 cases in country - a decline of 86%. Last time we saw daily cases in three digits was almost 3 months ago, on 3 May. No place for any complacency please!"
