In the past 24 hours, 1,487 new cases and 24 deaths were reported in Pakistan. It took the tally of total Covid-19 cases to 271,078 in the country.

For the past couple of weeks, Pakistan has seen a significant drop in the new coronavirus cases. Another good news is that there is marked improvement in the number of recoveries from Covid-19 in Pakistan with the tally reaching 236,596. Active cases in the country are now less than 30,000.

23,630 tests were carried out in the last 24 hours, out of which 1,487 returned positive, a positivity rate of 6.2%. This rate is quite lower than the 22% positivity rate in the mid of June when we saw a Covid peak in the country.

According to the latest statistics provided by official website of federal government, number of corona cases reported to date in different regions of Pakistan is as follows:

• 116,800 in Sindh
• 91,691 in Punjab
• 33,071 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
• 11,550 Balochistan
• 2,012 Azad Kashmir
• 1,942 Gilgit Baltistan
