ISLAMABAD: The law ministry has submitted progress report in the Supreme Court regarding formation of new accountability courts and appointments of judges on Thursday.
The law ministry has expressed legal and financial helplessness in setting up 120 new accountability courts in its report and said Rs 2.86 billion are required annually for them. Consultations to build new courts are ongoing, the report said.
The apex court was also apprised of the details of pending cases in the accountability courts. The report stated that 975 cases are pending in 24 accountability courts across the country.
