According to the daily coronavirus updates given by the Pakistan government website, 1,013 people tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours taking the total cases to 266,096.

This is the lowest one-day tally of new cases in the country in over 10 weeks. The last time Pakistan reported a lower number of new cases in a day was on 2nd May when 989 cases were reported. After that, Covid-19 cases increased steadily in the country reaching a peak in mid of June. The highest number of people who tested positive for the virus in a day was 6,825 on the 13th of June.

Pakistan has seen a significant drop in the coronavirus infections in the past few weeks. The federal government credits smart lockdown for this welcoming development. The other good news is that the number of covid recoveries in Pakistan is increasing every day. More than 2 lac people have fully recovered from the viral disease in the country,
