The federal government has claimed that they have adequate stocks of Dexamethasone drug available in Pakistan.

This was announced by Special Assistant to Prime Minister Imran Khan for Health, Dr. Zafar Mirza. He said:

National stock taking of Dexamethasone is completed by Drug Regulation Authority of Pakistan and I am pleased to report that we have enough stocks of the medicine available in Pakistan. It is available on prescription only.

He also asked the public to report any issue regarding the availability or pricing of the steroid drug by calling the federal government's hotline. SAPM said:

Any availability issues can be reported on DRAP hotline 0800-03727.

It must be noted that Dexamethasone is the drug that has proven to be quite effective in treating COVID-19 patients. Recently, a clinical in UK showed the effectiveness of the drug against the viral disease. WHO has also endorsed the use of this drug. As soon as the news came that this steroid drug will be used for treating COVID-19, sellers started hoarding the drug. Government took action and now claims that it has gathered enough stocks from the market.
