US President Donald Trump has suspended the US funding to the World Health Organization over its handling of the coronavirus pandemic.

During a news conference in White House, he said the US funding to WHO, which amounts to around 400 million dollars a year, will be temporarily paused, pending a review into its handling of the Covid-19 crisis.

In a statement, the UN Secretary General said it is not the time to reduce the resources for WHO operations or any other humanitarian organization in fight against the virus.

He said it is the time for unity and for the international community to work together in solidarity to stop this virus and its shattering consequences.
