The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led government introduced three bills “Pakistan Army (Amendment) Bill 2020,” Pakistan Air Force (Amendment) Bill 2020,” and Pakistan Navy (Amendment) Bill 2020 in the National Assembly today.

The bills were tabled by Defence Minister Pervez Khattak in the assembly by full consent of opposition parties.

The amendment seeks to make future extensions of army chiefs airtight as the bill states categorically that it "shall not be called into question before any court on any ground whatsoever".

Earlier, National Assembly Speaker, Asad Qaiser with the consent of the House, suspended “Question Hour” for next week, on a motion moved by Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan.

The House will now meet at 11 a.m. tomorrow.
