ISLAMABAD: Federal capital based accountability court has adjourned the graft references hearing against ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif till January 3 of next month, Aaj News reported.

Sharif along with his daughter, Maryam Nawaz and son in-law Captain ret. Safdar reached the accountability court to hear the graft references filed against them by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) amid tight security.

Large number of PML-N supporters and minister welcomed Sharif at the judicial complex were the proceedings of three references; Al-Azizia Steel Mills, offshore companies including Flagship Investment Ltd, and Avenfield properties allegedly owned by the Sharifs begun.

A witness, identified as Yasir Bashir, has recorded his statement in  Al-Azizia Steel Mills reference, while Shakil Anjum Nagra will also record his statement today.

So far eight witnesses have testified against the Sharif family in three references on the behalf of prosecution.

These references were filled against the Sharif family by NAB in the light of the Supreme Court's July 28 verdict in the Panama Papers case.

This is the 10th appearance of former peremier before the accountability court.

Will work for rule of law: Sharif

Talking to media persons outside the Accountability Court, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said he will continue to work for rule of law and the Constitution.

He said there should be one law for all and no double standards in dispensation of justice.

Nawaz Sharif said he has been disqualified for not declaring unrecievable salary but Imran Khan has been absolved of all charges of corruption.
