The Island of the Dolls (Isla de las Muñecas), Mexico

It is said by a legend that small girl once drowned in a canal located near island and after such painful death her soul never found peace. Julian Santana Barrera later found a doll near the place and to appease the soul of little girl, Barrera began to arrange this eerie collection. However, despite unusual presence on Island, tourists frequently visit it.

Ghost Town Centralia, USA

After an accident occurred back in 1962 and turned this town into a sort of silent hill. The firefighters were burning garbage in an abandoned coal mine. The flames of that fire spread to the coal seams and then an underground fire began which is said to be still burning. However, whole scenario doesn't stop tourists or journalists from visiting this ghost town.

The Hill of Crosses (Kryžių kalnas), Lithuania

The hill of Crosses was actually a catholic pilgrimage which looks like an old cemetery. It is believed that if one leaves a cross here, there wishes will be fulfilled. It is also said that the very first cross was placed by a peasant whose daughter fell severely ill. The girl soon got healthy and hence, more crosses were being placed.

"Hand of the Desert" (Mano del desierto), Chile

It is surely a bizarre thing to experience a giant hand in the middle of dessert. Author Mario Irarrazabal says this sculpture symbolizes loneliness, injustice and helplessness. Also, the place is kind of sad which is regularly visited by tourists.

Ghost City Ordos Kangbashi, China

The city Ordos Kangbashi was never settled due to financial problems and high property rates and hence known as ghost town. The total 20,000 people are still living there but it was originally designed for 2 million people. The city almost looks empty and tourists are more often found there then actual residents.

Sedlec Ossuary (Kostnice v Sedlci), Czech Republic

The church of all Saints, Sedlec Ossuary. It got fame due to its pretty unusual interior which is all decorated with human bones. The cemetery was unable to preserve all the dead hence, in 1400 a chapel was made to store human remains. Also, the human bones and skulls were later cleaned and bleached specifically for decoration.

Poveglia Island, Italy

It was said and believed that Poveglia was a place dedicated to the people with plague where they were sent to die and that is why those restless spirits are said to be still wandering there. From 1922 to 1968, a psychiatric hospital was opened and rumors also claimed that there were experiments used to conduct on patients. The chief doctor lost his senses and committed suicide. The island was then abandoned for forever.
