ECL fiasco continues: Ayyan Ali files petition against interior secretary
ISLAMABAD: Pakistani Model Ayyan Ali on Tuesday filed a contempt of court petition in the Supreme Court against the Interior Secretary for not removing her name from the Exit Control List (ECL) despite court orders.
According to latest media reports, the petition filed by her lawyer Latif Khosa states that the government has not removed the models name from the Exit Control List despite court orders.
On January 30, the Supreme Court had allowed the model to travel abroad. Her lawyer had said that she wanted to travel to Dubai to meet her ailing mother.
Sindh High Court (SHC) judge Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto had given a verdict for removing Ayyans name from the ECL on January 19, 2017.
Ayyan Ali was arrested on March 14, 2015 on charges of money-laundering after customs officials had recovered over 500,000 US dollars from her luggage at Islamabad airport before she could reportedly board a flight to Dubai.
