ISLAMABAD: The prime minister's counsel presented evidence before court as the Supreme Court on Thursday resumed the hearing of Panama Papers case against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Aaj News reported. 

Prime Minister's counsel Makhdoom Ali Khan submitted his arguments.

A five-member Bench, headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa heard the case. The PM's counsel Makhdoom Ali Khan denied that his client had anything to do with the London flats. Nawaz Sharif was not director or shareholder of an offshore company, nor was he its beneficial owner, Khan said.

On which, Justice Khosa inquired, "If there was no connection, then how does the money trail lead to the London flats?

"How can we believe that he was never the director?" Justice Khosa asked. "No documents have been submitted before us to prove he was never the director."

Justice Khosa further remarked, "The prime minister's lawyer will have to satisfy the court" regarding the ownership of the Dubai factory.

Meanwhile, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed talked about the contradictory statements of PM Nawaz and his children.

"If there is a small mistake in the speech, it can be overlooked. But if mistakes were made on purpose, there will be serious consequences," Justice Ejaz Afzal warned.

The Jusitce Ijaz remarked that the records which the Prime Minister mentioned had not been produced. "Records are mandatory to make a decision", he added.

Later, the hearing was adjourned till January 13 (Friday).

In last hearing on Wednesday, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insafs (PTI) counsel Naeem Bukhari said, “We want the court to give a verdict on disqualifying the Prime Minister."
