Army's stay in Islamabad extended by 90 days
The federal government has extended the stay of Pakistan Army in federal Capital for 90 days in aid of the civil law enforcement agencies (LEAs). Â
According to notification issued by the Ministry of Interior, the government has extended the stay of Pakistan Army for three months till March 3, 2017.
It said that following the request by chief commissioner Islamabad, vide letter no 2(6)-law 2013-365 dated, the federal government in the exercise of the power conferred under article 245 of the Constitution, it is please to further extend the authorisation of deployment of 350 troops of Pakistan Army, to act in aid of civil power, subject to law in force in Pakistan in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) for a period of 90 days.
