US, China, France offer condolences over plan crash tragedy

The United States on Thursday expressed grief over the crash of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) aircraft which claimed 47 lives. 

Deputy Spokesman of the US State Department Mark Toner, in a press briefing in Washington, said, "American government and people were sad over the plane crash in Pakistan." Mark Toner also offered assistance in relief work and investigation on the behalf of the US government.

Meanwhile China expressed deep condolences to the families of the victims in Wednesday's Pakistani plane crash. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lu Kang made the remarks at a routine press briefing. Lu said that Chinese people stand firmly with Pakistani people at this sad moment.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry and the Chinese embassy in Pakistan have verified the Chinese victim's identity and are giving support to his family, he said.

Meanwhile, Chinese ambassador in Islamabad Sun Weidong also expressed his deep sense of sorrow over the tragic incidents, stating that the Chinese people stand by their brothers at this hour of grief.

On the other hand, embassy of France in Pakistan also has expressed its sincere condolences to the families of all passengers and flight crew members on board the ill-fated PIA flight PK-661.

In a statement here Thursday, the Embassy said: "In these difficult circumstances, we share the grief and sorrow of those who have lost loved ones in this terrible accident".
