United Kingdom (UK) has informed Pakistan formally that the evidence provided by Pakistan against MQM founder Altaf Hussain, for his provocative speeches that created unrest in the port city of Karachi last month, would be examined seriously.

Following the incident, the Ministry of Interior had sent a reference to UK authorities, seeking action against MQM Altaf Hussain as he is a British citizen.

An official said the UK police would seriously review the evidence provided by Pakistan against MQM founder and if they need further evidence regarding the incident then they will contact the Government of Pakistan through the UK High Commission in Pakistan, he added.

Pakistan had sent a reference to London Metropolitan police against MQM chief last month along with evidence against Altaf, which included a copy of First Information Report (FIR) registered against MQM chief, all CCTV footages, pictures, footages by electronic media, and transcripts of MQM chief's speeches to British government for inciting public to violence.
