President urges important role of Pakistan Study Centers to promote Pak-China friendship
BEIJING: President Mamnoon Hussain Wednesday urged the significant role of Pakistan study centers in China in creating better understanding for the promotion of trade and business ties between the two countries, besides transmitting glowing traditions of the time-tested friendship to the future generations.
The President said this during his meeting with the Heads of Pakistan Study Centers in China here at the State Guest House.
He lauded the role of the study centers in promoting people-to- people exchanges and better understanding of Pakistan as a trusted friend of China.
The President noted that it was important that glowing traditions of Pakistan-China ties were passed on to their coming generations and the study centers were ideally-positioned to focus on youth and communicate the narrative of `all-weather friendship' to them.
"The Study Centers should continue to engage in meaningful research, publish articles and hold seminars and exhibitions to highlight the geo-political significance and economic potential of Pakistan," the President stressed.
He expressed the hope that the study centers would help supplement efforts of the two governments to establish Pakistan- China Economic Corridor.
The President assured full support to the activities and engagements of the centers aimed at prompting Pak-China friendship and wished the heads of the centers good luck and success in all their endeavors.
Earlier, the four Chairpersons of Pakistan Study Centers at Peking University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University Shanghai and Sichuan University apprised the President about the activities of their respective study centers.
They informed that Pakistan Study Centers were busy in promoting people-to-people and academic exchanges through holding of conferences, visit of scholars and other activities.
The heads of the centers, who called on the President, included Prof Tang Mengsheng, Prof Li Xiguan, Prof Du Youkang and Prof Chen Jidong.
Pakistan's Ambassador to China Masood Khalid was also present.
