Treason case: Court orders to present Musharraf on Thursday by all means

ISLAMABAD: The three-member special court headed by Justice Faisal Arab, while hearing the treason case on Wednesday here, ordered the police to present Pervez Musharraf in court tomorrow by all means

IG police said that the former President General (retd) Pervez Musharraf would not be facing any threats. It would be safe for him to come to the court tomorrow by all means; as heavy contingents have been deployed for his safety and security.

Court issued this order becuase Musharraf didnt appear in the court on Wednesday; as he was not coming for his hearing since weeks due to security threats and explosives found outside his house and on the route from his house on Chak Shezad to the court.

Musharraf’s counsel Ahmad Raza Kasuri added that the judiciary would be responsible if any untoward incident took place, adding that if a bombing occurred, everyone, including the judges of the special court, would be killed as a result.

Responding to which, Justice Faisal Arab, who is heading the special court, cautioned Kasuri to not threaten the court, adding that the counsel's point had been noted.

Justice Faisal Arab said the court could not stop its proceedings on account of security concerns. He further said that the summons had already been issued, the court didn't want the humiliation of Pervez Musharraf, he must be presented in the court tomorrow by all means.

Musharraf’s legal team arguing on the constitution of the special court said that the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP)’s office was purposely used for the nomination of judges and the man who refused to take oath on Pervez Musharraf’s PCO was made the head of the special court.

Justice Faisal Arab said that he hasn’t any personal interest in this case

Another counsel of Pervez Musharraf Anwar Mansoor raised objections against the nomination of the other two judges Justice Tahira Safdar and Justice Yawar Ali, which was ruled out as incorrect.
