“Holding free and fair elections would be our aim” – PM Raja Pervaiz Ashraf

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minster Raj Pervaiz Ashraf addressed the National Assembly immediately after winning the elections on Friday.

The Prime Minister started his speech by stating that he, along with his party, was with the nation and they would never allow a fight between the people and the institutions of the country.

“Free and fair elections are our major aim. I would like to affirm the nation that fair elections would be conducted,” stated Mr. Ashraf during his speech.

Talking about the industries within Pakistan, the PM added that everything would be done to reinforce the affected industries. Emphasis was given to the agriculture industry, about which the PM stated that it was the backbone of Pakistan and strategies would be implemented to further strengthen it.

The PM later showed his concern for the Balochistan crisis stating that the Balochistan issues would be the PM’s main priority. The PM vowed that the Balochistan crisis would be resolved by meeting the unhappy Baloch leaders and appropriate measures would be taken to placate them.

With respect to bilateral relationships, Raja Pervaiz said that proper means would be adopted to improve ties with US without compromising the sovereignty of Pakistan. On the Afghanistan topic, the PM added that appropriate actions would be taken to restore peace within the troubled region as both peace within both Pakistan and Afghanistan  can only be brought concurrently. The PM hailed relationship with “China and stated that Pak China friendship is taller than Himalaya”.
