Zardari, Malik Riaz won't be successful in their agenda: Imran

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan showed solidarity with the judiciary in aftermath of Arsalan-Malik Riaz case saying that Zardari and his cronies like Malik Riaz Hussain - a property tycoon - have launched a campaign to malign the independent judiciary, in which they would not be successful.

Addressing a rally in Islamabad, the cricket-turned-politician said that the PTI as well as the entire nation was standing with the chief justice of Pakistan. He asserted, “The PTI will start a tsunami march if the Supreme Court’s decision is not accepted”.

The PTI chief said the whole nation, especially the youth of the PTI, was behind Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and would defy any conspiracy against him.

Imran Khan also said President Asif Ali Zardari's days are numbered and that the nation should prepare to move into a new era of democracy on his eventual exit.

The way he [Malik Riaz] accused Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary's son by holding the Holy Quran in his hands, Imran added, he should also reveal the names of those politicians, journalists and military men, who got money from him, if he has the guts.

He challenged the property tycoon to prove his claims that PTI also got money from him. "I challenge him to come forward [and] I'll quit politics if he proved that my party has also benefited or accepted even a single penny from him", he added.

"Listen Malik Riaz...this is PTI, you can not bribe us how hard you try. We've no price and nobody can buy us. Don't think that everybody in this country is like you. Your character is known to all, as you grease palms of influential people first and then force them to do the needful [and] which is of course illegal", Imran lambasted Riaz. He made it crystal that the whole nation stands by the judiciary and any attempt to weaken it, will prove costly for Zardari and his cronies, who are hell-bent to tarnish the image of independent judiciary.

The corrupt regime is afraid of independent media and judiciary, he said, adding that Chief Justice of Pakistan should punish all corrupt politicians, journalists, including his own son if found involved in corruption. About the never ending loadshedding in the country, PTI chairman said that the government must stop testing the patience of people as they are about to take to the streets, which will be last in nail in corrupt junta's coffin.

Imran condemned police baton charge on PTI workers in Karachi, and warned the government of a long march towards Presidency if his party was singled out. Peaceful protest is our right and nobody can stop us from holding such rallies, he maintained.
