More than 20 PTI members arrested in Karachi
KARACHI: Police on Monday arrested more than 20 members of Imran Khan led party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). The PTI was conducting a pro-judiciary rally on Monday.
Police used water cannons to disperse the rally near Zaibunissa Street. Police also baton charged the members of PTI, resulting in injuries to many of the participants of the rally. The rally was headed towards the Karachi Press Club.
PTI Secretary General, Arif Alvi, was also arrested along with other members of the PTI. “Have been arrested after severe beatings, protesting in support of the judiciary, were beaten aimlessly with batons many injured. Shame on those who try and muzzle peaceful protests,†the PTI Sec. General tweeted.
PTI had instigated a pro-judiciary movement by arranging rallies in major cities of Pakistan.
