Asma Jahangir refused to represent Malik Riaz in SC
ISLAMABAD: Asma Jahangir has excused herself from the offer of representing Malik Riaz as her client in the Supreme Court, Aaj News reported.
She said that she refused to represent Mr Malik because of her deep and long running relationship with the Supreme Court Bar.
According to a source, the former president of Supreme Court Bar Association, Asma Jahangir, was approached by Malik Riaz in a phone call he made from UK, offering Asma Jahangir to represent him in the ongoing graft case involving the Chief Justice's Son Arsalan Iftikhar.
In an exclusive interview with Aaj News, she said that she has a long standing relationship with the Supreme Court Associates which is why she had to distance herself from the offer presented by Malik Riaz.
Sources speculate that Malik Riaz's lawyer Zahid Bukhari has seeked Asma Jahangir's legal guidance in this case, regarding which there he will be attending a key meeting with Attorney General Irfan Qadir and Asma Jahangir in Lahore today.
When asked, Attorney General Irfan Qadir said that he is presently in Lahore and keeps visiting Lahore from time to time.
