Indian Spy: Sarabjit Singh seeks pardon from President Zardari

An Indian spy named Sarabjit
Singh, currently locked up in Lahore's Koth Lakh Pat jail facing a death sentence has renewed his plea, asking President Zardari to grant him a presidential pardon. This is his fifth appeal to the president, Aaj News reported.

Attached with Sarabjit Singh's appeal, is a petition signed by one hundred thousand (1 lakh) Indian citizens appealing president Zardari to pardon Sarabjit Singh just like the Indian PM pardoned Pakistani Microbiologist, Dr Akeel Chishti.

Sarabjit's lawyer, Owais Sheikh has said that an appeal based on two pages has been sent to President Zardari. Speaking of Dr Chishti's release from Indian jail, he said that this act of generosity has changed the dynamics of this case in a positive way for his client.

In his appeal, Sarabjit Singh has repeated his plea stating that he was acquitted by the courts because of mistaken identity and has served 22 years of his life for a crime he has not committed.

The Indian spy was acquitted and jailed in 1990 after he was found guilty of executing a bomb attack in Punjab, which killed 14 people.
