“Pakistan, an important ally for peace in the region†– Clinton
CHICAGO: Pakistan's importance, to bring peace and stability within the region, was highly praised during the NATO summit held on Sunday. Both the NATO and the US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, considered Pakistan to be an important all towards creating peace and stability within Afghanistan and the entire troubled region.
According to the President's spokesman, Farhatullah Babar, the President spoke about the NATO supply issue with respect to the Salala incident. According to Babar, the President sought the help of the US with respect to the Salala incident and urged the US officials to  reach an agreement as indicated by the Parliament of Pakistan.
The President also stated Pakistan's grievance over the Salala incident.
Zardari also voiced the issue of the coalition support fund payments with Hillary Clinton.
Babar further stated that the US and the NATO considered Pakistan to be an important ally within the region and that Hillary Clinton respected the Parliamentary consideration and would ensure that US and Pakistan would take a step to improve their ties very soon.
President Zardari told Clinton that a solution should be found with respect to the the drone issue as the unbearable attacks engulfed public emotions within the Pakistani region because of civilian casualties.
The President also emphasized on trade matters, urging Secretary Clinton to assist Pakistan with better market access for locally manufactured goods and services and to help the country in resolving the colossal energy crisis prevailing within the country.
Zardari was accompanied by Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, Foreign Secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani, Sherry Rehman and Senator Farhatullah Babar along with other officials.
