Haqqani requests SC for a ‘video-trial’; feels unsafe in Pakistan

The former ambassador to US Hussain Haqqani on Saturday submitted an application in supreme court in which he wanted to record his statement via video link due to security concerns.

Lawyer to Haqqani, Zahid Bukhari said that his client fears his life is not safe and thus requested the court to record his statement via video link similar to Mansoor Ijaz.

Zahid Bukhari said that Haqqani had earlier appealed to the memo commission to record his statement via video link, but the commission asked him to refer it to the Supreme Court.

The former ambassador, who is currently in London, was allowed by the commission to travel abroad on the condition that would return to the country within four days of him being summoned.
