Imran Khan refuses to share stage with Rushdie; backs out of Indian conference

Reports are that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaad chief Imran Khan has backed out from the India Today Conclave which is being held in New Delhi.

This decision came after he was made aware of the fact that the infamous Britain based writer/author Salman Rushdie would also be attending and speaking at the conference.

A PTI leader, earlier released a statement confirming the cancellation of Khan's attendance at the event as a key note speaker. According to the statement Imran Khan said that he cannot even think about sharing a stage with Rushdie, who has the feelings of Muslims all around the world by writing a book called "The Satanic Verses" in 1988, which is banned in most of the Muslim countries in the world.

Khan expressed his regrets for not being able to attend the event, explaining that he received the program schedule last night and made his decision today, early morning.

Salman Rushdie is all set to speak at the conference on his speech titled “The Liberty Verses – I am What I am and That’s All That I am”.

The event will take place at the Taj Palace hotel, where renowned figures like Kareena Kapoor and the famous US diplomat Heny Kissinger will speak on relative topics.
