PTI will welcome 4 million members in 60 days: Imran Khan

Chairman of PakistanTehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan on Saturday announced to launch acountrywide membership campaign within 10 days.

Addressing a news conference here, he said PTI has set a target to make four million members in the drive, which would continue for 60 to 75 days.

The dedicated and committed workers would be mobilized to takethe message of the party door-to-door to muster support for theparty.

He claimed it would be an unprecedented and largest drive inthe country's history, adding that at present 800,000 people havegot themselves registered with PTI as members.

Khan said he does not believe in family politics so alloffice-bearers of PTI from 'bottom to top' would be elected by itsmembers.

"Party elections will be held from union council to top levelafter completion of the membership drive."

Replying to a question, the PTI Chairman said the party'sparliamentary board would award tickets to candidates for provincialand national assemblies in next general elections in line withrecommendations of district organizing committees.

To a question about absence of Shah Mehmood Qureshi and JavedHashmi from the press conference, Khan said he talked to ShahMehmood Qureshi on Friday and Qureshi could not come because deathof son of a close friend.

"Son of a close friend of Shah Mehmood committed suicide, sohe was busy there." While, Makhdoom Javed Hashmi is in United Statesfor fund raising for the party.

Responding to another question, Khan said the Mehran Bank casehas exposed real faces of politicians, who claimed to be champions ofdemocracy. "Now it is clear who plays in connivance with empire,"the PTI Chairman observed
