Asia Cup: Pakistan team departs for Bangladesh
The Pakistan squad is set to leave for the much anticipated Asia Cup today. The tournament is hosted by Bangladesh and will begin from 11 March and end on 23 March.
Skipper Misbah-Ul-Haq leads the squad for this tournament inspite of rumours that he will be replaced by Shahid Afridi, after the easily-avoidable defeat in the last twenty20 against England, in Abu Dhabi.
The four-nation tournament includes the former champions India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan. First match will be between Pakistan and Bangladesh on 11 March, whereas the more expected Pakistan vs India match will be held on 18 March.
The Pakistan team management which includes some names that are worthy of mention left for Bangladesh along with the squad today.
The team management is as follows: Naveed Akram Cheema (Team Manager), Dave Whatmore (Head Coach), Julian Fountain (Fielding Coach), Faisal Hayat Khan (Physiotherapist), Saboor Ahmed (Trainer), Waseem Ahmed Shahid (Security Manager), Talha Butt (Analyst) and Malang Ali (Masseur).
The current squad is as follows: Misbah-ul Haq (captain), Mohammad Hafeez, Nasir Jamshed, Younis Khan, Umar Akmal, Hammad Azam, Asad Shafiq, Shahid Afrid, Azhar Ali, Sarfraz Ahmed, Saeed Ajmal, Abdul Rehman, Umar Gul, Aizaz Cheema, Wahab Riaz.
Former captain Shoaib Malik and opener Imran Farhat were dropped from the 15-man squad travelling to Bangladesh, after the new selection committee was brought together by the Chairman PCB Zaka Ashraf.
