Power Minister’s fail; Load shedding continues

On Monday 6th of February, Water and Power Minister Naveed Qamar, made a nationwide announcement in the National Assembly that the country is now free from load shedding starting Tuesday 7th February 2012.

According to the minister, the power generation has somehow enhanced through out the country’s power plants after the addition of 3272 mw in the national grid. When the fact is that there still remains a shortage of three thousand four hundred megawatts (3,400 MW) which is still forcing the major rural and urban cities of Pakistan into a gloomy darkness-filled way of life.

Major cities like Karachi and Lahore still face long and dire load shedding hours. Residents have to suffer a minimum of four hours of load shedding every day whereas load shedding in various cities of Baluchistan and Pakthunkhwa vary from five to eight hours daily.
