Punjab govt designing law for power generation, distribution
Punjab government is making law for power generation and its distribution in a fair and transparent manner which would help in overcoming energy crises in the province.
This was stated by Secretary Energy Punjab Rabnawaz while addressing a meeting of exporters, traders, industrialist and businessmen at Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) here on Tuesday. He said, the government had initiated various projects to produce 3000 megawatt electricity.
Out of total, 1000 megawatt electricity would be generated through coal, 1000 megawatt from sugar mills while remaining 1000 megawatt electricity would be produced by other means
He said, Punjab government will also patronize joint venture with private sector and the industrialists of Faisalabad should form Faisalabad Power Company to get rid of energy crisis.
He said that the investors should invest their capital in Bio and Wind Power Generation Projects as Biogas projects are not only cheaper but due to government efforts, biogas plants will also start working at domestic level in the province from next fiscal year.
He revealed that a 50 megawatt power plant is being installed in M-3 Industrial City, 25 megawatt plants each in ValueAddedCity and Small Industrial Estate Sargodha Road which would help provide uninterrupted electricity supply to the industrial units of Faisalabad.
Earlier, President FCCI Muzammal Sultan in his welcome address highlighted the importance of Faisalabad and said that it is generating heavy revenue for national kitty.
He demanded uninterrupted provision of fuel to the industrial units of Faisalabad so that it could continue its contribution in national progress and prosperity.
