Love lights even 'the darkest hour'

Will the world end with a whimper or a bang? That may well depend on whether you're at the multiplex or the art house. While blockbusters continue to relish the visual bombastics of Armageddon (the most wanton example being "2012"), a number of smaller films are also delving into the dark dramatic potential of the end days.

The Darkest Hour is a film set in Moscow, Russia and proceeds like an action thriller.  The Fox Studios has produced this movie after coming up with X Men First Class and Rise of the Planet of the Apes in 2011.

This film showcases an alien invasion in Russia and has the lead characters, played by Emile Hirsch, Max Minghella, Olivia Thirlby and Rachael Taylor as a bunch of young people who are caught in this alien invasion. Whether they succeed in getting to a safe Russian submarine forms the rest of the racy plot.

Judging by all the wayward lightning bolts, there are a couple hundred unseen extraterrestrials in there too. That's the beauty of unseen bad guys-they're everywhere.

Since such films have always had a craze among the youth, The Darkest Hour indeed has lots of hype around it in AP's capital and other important urban centres.
