Margalla Hills receive snowfall after six years

Snowfall has been recorded after 6 years at Margalla Hills in Islamabad.

The mountains including picnic point Pir Suhawa wore a white snow cover and a cold wave has gripped the twin cities, private news channel reported.

The intermittent rain spell started on Friday morning and brought the mercury down to minus Celsius due to which snowfall started at night and Margalla hills including adjacent areas received 1-inch snowfall.

More rain with snowfall over the hills likely in Northern parts of the country.

Cold spell continues across the country with rain and snowfall in upper areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces.

Flight services have been suspended due to bad weather in Chitral, Army clears Lowari tunnel for traffic after its closure.

Shangla received first snowfall in six years, moreover, Karakorum Highway and other roads have been closed due to land

sliding.

Snow-blanketed hills can also be seen in most areas of Gilgit

and snowfall continued for third day in Neelam Valley.

Murree and other adjoining areas will also receive more snowfall in next 24 hours.

Metrological department has predicted that scattered rain with snowfall over the hills expected in Upper Punjab, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkwa areas including Peshawar, Hazara, Malakand and Kohat divisions, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.

Cold and dry weather is expected most parts of the country in the next 24 hours.
