Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan called upon the Pakistan army to end its cooperation in so-called US-led war against terrorism in the country.

He said continuation of US drone attacks was a negation of resolution adopted by All Parties Conference. Addressing a Waziristan Grand Jirga against drone strikes in Islamabad Friday, Khan said that the army should halt its operation in the tribal areas as people of that region are against a military action there.

He also said that Pakistan is being pressured into initiating an operation in North Waziristan. He "some elements are manipulating facts to prove that tribal people favour such operations.

Khan said military operations and drone attacks were not solving anything and this was evident because each year incidents of terrorism had risen in Pakistan.

"Drone attacks are not beneficial, but are harming Pakistan" Khan said. Imran said that drone attacks usually kill innocent people. Everything, he said, that has so far been said about drone attacks by the government is a lie.

Imran added that there was a drone strike within 24 hours of a resolution against drone attacks in parliament, which illustrated that this government was working on the behest of the US.

Imran said Pakistan was capable of bringing down the drones but the government was following the secret agreements made with the United States.

"Drones are flagrant violation of human rights and more importantly, a breach of Pakistan's sovereignty, which has been allowed by the rulers," the PTI chairman maintained. Earlier, a resolution passed at the Jirga against drone attacks asks the Supreme Court to take action against such strikes.

There have been over 270 drone strikes inside Pakistan to date. Jemima Khan and a large number of relatives of tribesmen killed or injured in about 300 drone attacks took part in the jirga. Reprieve, an NGO, hosted the event.

He asked government to resign for being ineffective saying the government has failed to solve the problems of the people. He said that the government has failed to protect the lives, property and honour of the people.

If the government cannot serve the people, it should resign, he added. Later Imran Khan led anti-US drone attacks rally from China Chowk to D-Chowk parliament House, in which a large number of people mostly from PTI.

The protesters also set fire to a wooden model of a drone, dancing around and shouting "No more drone attacks", "No to drones, no to USA", carrying big signs saying "Stop drone attacks in Pakistan"."Anyone wearing a turban, bearded men, and offering Namaz is considered to be a terrorist by US", said a protester belonged to North Waziristan.

He said those who are called terrorists are actually hero for us because they are serving Islam.
