Hajj corruption Case: DG FIA appears in court
The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) resumed the hearing of hajj corruption case Wednesday where DG FIA Tehsin Anwar appeared on SC’s directive.
The case was heard by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry under six members bench of Supreme court.
During the proceedings, Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry took notice of government’s step of making Sohail Ahmed an officer on special duty (OSD).
Sohail Ahmed was earlier appointed as secretary of establishment division but after producing the restoration notice of FIA officer Hussain Asghar, he was made OSD by the federal government. Hussain Asghar was functioning as the investigating officer in hajj corruption case.
Tehsin Anwar, while the proceedings, told the court that Hussain Asghar has not reported at FIA yet.
Chief Justice in his remarks said that only rule of law will be followed in the country and no one should expect otherwise.
He also asked the attorney general that why the secretary establishment was removed from his position and that he should assist in bringing him back.
Later, the court adjourned till tomorrow.
