Dual nationalities ineligible to take part in polls: EC
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has declared individuals with dual nationalities ineligible to take part in elections and has recommended that the government pass legislation in this regard.
A meeting headed by Chief Election Commissioner, Justice (Retd.) Hamid Ali Mirza passed a resolution against individuals with dual nationality stating that they could not take part in elections to become members of parliament.
It was also decided in the meeting that action against those who have fake degrees be sped up. The election commission also dismissed the reference submitted by Maulvi Iqbal Haider which sought to declare ANP Senators Haji Adeel and Zahid Khan ineligible.
A resolution was passed in the meeting which stated that a reference against a member can only be sent by Chairman Senate or the Speaker of the National Assembly.
