Summer Vacation to be held in July-August

Sindh Minister for Education and Literacy Pir Mazharul Haq said that according to the decision of steering committee of Sindh education department, all schools and colleges of the province would be closed for the summer vacation for the months of July and August, instead of June and July.

Talking to the media after presiding over a meeting of the steering committee meeting here on Saturday, he said that the steering committee of Sindh education department had received suggestions from civil society, government and private sectors that keeping in view the coming Holy month of Ramzan, the summer vacations should be rescheduled to facilitate the citizens.

He said in view of these suggestions, the committee has decided that the summer vacation in all schools and colleges of the Sindh would be observed from 1st July to 31st August, 2011 and the educational institutes would reopen after the Eid-ul-Fitar.

Pir Mazhar further said that the steering committee set up a committee consisting on three senior officers of the education department including Acting Secretary Sindh Education Department Waeem Ursani, Director Private Institutions Sindh Mansoob Ahmed Siddqui and Chairman Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK), Prof. Anwar Ahmed Zai to take on board all ‘O’ and ‘A’ level schools, regarding the steering committee decision.

He said that the chairmen of the all educational boards of Karachi had assured him that they would complete examination process in the month of May.
