Pak-Lanka trade to be increased to $1bnThere exists a potential to enhance the bilateral trade between Sri Lanka and Pakistan to one billion dollars mark.
This was stated by the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Pakistan, Air Chief Marshal Jayalath Weerakody (Retd).
He was speaking at a reception hosted by the Managing Director of OBS, Tarek Khan, in honour of Sri Lankan exhibitors participating in the My Karachi exhibition here.
He said that the bilateral trade between the two countries has crossed 300 million dollars level and it is hoped that it would soon reach one billion dollars.
The High Commissioner also spoke of deep friendly ties between Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
He said that Sri Lanka is ready to assist Pakistan in the textile sector.
Weerakody said that cement and rice from Pakistan have secured market in Sri Lanka.
The Deputy High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Karachi, Sidath Kumar, Chairman of Pakistan-Sri Lanka Business Forum, Majyid Aziz, and Dr. Jehanzeb of OBS also spoke on the occasion.
