Tehrik-e-Minhajul Quran activists surround Aaj TV officeActivists of Tehrik-e-Minhajul Quran surrounded the Aaj TV channel office in Islamabad on Friday night and held a protest demonstration against the channel's programme "Bolta Pakistan". According to TV channel, about 150 workers of Tehrik-e-Minhajul Quran gathered outside the channel office and raised slogans against the channel and the anchors of its Bolta Pakistan programme.
The protestors forcefully entered the office and harassed the staff members. The Islamabad channel administration immediately called the police for security. After the arrival of police, the protestors moved away and gathered at some distance and chanted slogans again.
The Aaj TV offices in Karachi and Lahore also received a number of threatening phone calls. Earlier, some unknown persons also hurled stones at the residence of Nusrat Jawed, a senior journalist and anchor of popular Aaj TV programme "Bolta Pakistan".
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Sherry Rehman, Rawalpindi-Islamabad Association of Journalists, PFUJ, Rawalpindi High court Bar Association and various journalists' associations and social organisations have strongly condemned the siege of the Aaj TV office.
