SHC hearing petition against movie ‘Khuda kay Liye’Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday while hearing petition against release of film 'Khuda Key Liye' directed applicant's counsel to submit references of Quran and Hadith in which music, paintings were declare Haram in Islam.
SHC's division bench comprising Chief Justice Sabihuddin Ahmed and Justice Muhammad Afzal Soomro was hearing petition filed by Saifullah Rabbani, religious scholar of Jamia Banoria Al-Alimi Karachi praying to impose ban on film which released for screening across the country on July 20, 2007, produced and directed by Shoaib Mansoor.
It directed applicant's counsel that materials must be based on Quran and Hadith, not on Fatwa. The matter was adjourned for August 10, 2007.
Saifullah Rabbani submitted there were not only several controversial scenes, dialogues in film but entire story suppressed and ruined true face of Islam. He said through film it was tried to demoralize teaching of Islam, create hatred against Islam, Jihad and promulgate music, western culture in country. It was already banned in India and Europe but released in Pakistan. Censor Board passed it without objecting or deleting controversial scenes.
Applicant counsel Maqboolur Rehman stated story of film was disputed and its scenes, dialogue damage faith and hurt religious feeling of Muslims. Renowned religious institutions also gave Fatwa against release of said film.
Naming Sindh Secretary Culture, Chairman PEMRA, and Chairman Censor Board, producer, director, actor Shan, actress Iman Ali and a private TV channel, applicant prayed to impose ban on film and grant stay against its screening till disposal of petition.
